an evening with ansara jasin - the feedback from the committee

ok, so, these are the responses and opinion that were given by the committee.
1. it's a well organized programme but we should be continuous and commited towards the work that we do.
2. in order to get donations from public, we have to make sure that the orphanage has the license for tax reduction. if they don't, one of the members of ansara jasin, the treasurer, mr. adam is willingly offering his help.
3. for the time being, we should just collect sports stuff and books.
4. we might as well collect donations internally which means between the members of ansara jasin. the committee agreed to help on that.
5. dr. asri said that we might as well send tutors to help the children improve their academic achievements. this will be done by the members of ansara jasin because there are members who are working as teachers and tutors.

an evening with ansara jasin - further discussion..

after opening the file and a few confusing glances between usher and roy (which was so annoying), we presented the slideshow. it was simple and brief and the committee were not bored. we showed them the pictures that you guys took... everybody thought that the orphanage needed improvements on the infrastructure. i also told them about their lack of concern towards academic...
there were a few pictures of those who went to gotong-royong playing playstation with the kids. it was funny, really.. they even asked us whether we actually played playstation back at tgb. i didnt know how to answer but i guess there are TGBans out there who knew the answer...
when they saw the picture of the water tank in front of the surau of the orphanage, they instantly decided to help on that. and yes, everyone, the people in al-Khairiyah will have new water tanks!!! how fast is that! they even asked one of the committee the cost to fix the water tank. cool huh...

the one who carries the XX genes were performing their maghrib prayers upstairs while the XY people performed their solat jamaah in the living room. (this is biologically correct, right???)
while i was upstairs, i was chatting with the female seniors after performing the solat. an interesting conversation.. girl talk.. huhuhuhu...
we talked and talked and didn;t realise that the male group were actually waiting for the thumb drive for the presentation that we were about to give. harharhar. sorry to keep u guys waiting.

an evening with ansara jasin - knowing the committee...

the moment i saw them, i didnt feel scared at all. they looked nice and friendly. the atmosphere was nice and comfortable and there were no formal craps.. we thought they were only waiting for us but it turned out that they were also waiting for other members..
this is an interesting part, when i saw the dining table where we were having the meeting, there were all sorts of gadgets and hi-tech stuffs. from the smallest laptop i have ever seen to PDAs and undoubtedly expensive phones. u name it, they got it... at that time i was praying that my outdated monophonic phone would not ring because it would be like the sky and the earth (direct translation from bm)
i didn't really remember all of them but all i know is, they were from the first batch of mrsm jasin, a couple of seniors from jasin batch 03 and us. which means the meeting was attended from the oldest generation until the youngest (nice...). the president is mr. aziph... everybody introduced themselves..
they didn't directly discussed about our programme because the meeting was about their annual activities and ours would most probably be included in their planning...
so, they were talking about their plan for the monthly activities of 2008. after a few discussions about hari keluarga, go-kart and futsal tournament, hari kerjaya,etc.etc. they focused on our programme.. i distributed the paperwork and luckily it's enough. i explained briefly and we heard the azan so we stopped for awhile to give way for maghrib prayer..

looking for mr. aziph's house..

yes, it's mr aziph's house not dr. asri's.. it is located in cyberia crescent, cyberjaya.. (expensive apartments and houses)
we went to a few wrong locations but finally managed to find his house after a few phone calls.. we even mistakenly stopped at a place called cyberia smart homes that has shops and cafes where i saw a lot of people with strange hairstyles and clothes.. i guess that's where people with high salaries spend their money.. the cars over there were estimated to cost more than 100,000..
we continued our journey (cewah, macam adventure) and were told by mr. aziph that his house is near a school. when we came across the school, we were awstricken by the school's infrastructure.. totally modern. a far cry from tgb - well tgb will always lose if compared with the infrastructure in any school in malaysia. then, we found the entrance to the house..
when i found his house, my eyes were glued to the beautiful mercedez benz parked in his garage. then i thought,"wow, i'm dealing with ridiculously rich people here.."

while preparing...

we were actually doing nothing much. just editing the presentation, print a couple of paperwork and photocopy it to hand it out to the committee of ansara jasin.
the best thing that happened in mr. hambali's office was the way asyaari and dhiyau were struggling to figure out how to use the xerox machine (photocopying stuffs)... i took a couple of their pictures together looking confused.. huahuahua..
we even went online and did something which is not related to the charity work. i checked my friendster account and posted something for the blog.
while i was in the office, i wanted to go to the toilet.. when i looked at the sign on the toilet's door, it shows the toilet for gents. i was so reluctant and i told the boys what i thought.. it was so weird entering the toilet.. i was told by usher that there were no female employee inn his father's office.. no wonder.. they were laughing hysterically at me.. bengong..
usher's father was a bit late but kak liza (the secretary of ansara jasin) said they don;t really mind.. we were so nervous cause we thought we were totally late. we arrived at mr. aziph's house (venue of the meeting) exactly at 6.53 (i knew this cause i recorded every important time)...

pre-presentation

right now, i'm in mr. hambali's office for the preparation. so so nervous. we are going to dr. asri's house at 5 p.m. i have two bodyguards with me... hahahaha... both of them escorted me to go pray at the surau..
i got to tell you guys this, when i finished praying i went out and saw usher and dhiyau playing seesaw beside the surau... muakakaka..... funny.. just imagine seeing the president of bwp and a badar playing seesaw in an unknown area in ampang... sadly, we forgot to bring the camera over there...
ok, gotta concentrate with the presentation.. wish us luck..

ANSARA!!!

yesterday, 4.30 p.m., i received an sms from che nad telling me that we'll be having a meeting with the president of ANSARA next week!!! the president of ANSARA, the election candidate for langkawi, the son of the former prime minister of Malaysia!!!! oh my god!! i accidentally shouted while i was working yesterday and my colleagues from the shop i'm working in and the people from al-ikhsan sports came to check on me to make sure that i did not have a nervous breakdown (and yes they looked confused) because i'm so shocked... luckily, at that time there weren't a lot of customer present... i never thought that this charity work will go that far.. i was just thinking of a nice and simple donation for the people in the orphanage and not making a big deal about it...
so, i realise that this committee is to tell you the truth not well organized, i would like to know, who is the official member and who is really interested in joining.. please tell me during the conference tonight, please....

i'm a lousy vice president, i know it... i want to congratulate those who went to the orphanage.. i'm glad u people had fun.. i'm so sorry because i couldn't make it.. i might be working behind the scene and most probably will not be having a lot of time to spend at the orphanage... sorry for the utterly unbelievable lack of commitment towards this community from me... Gotong-Royong, a way to spend da weekend wisely... (2nd)

Cara untuk pergi ke Rumah Anak Yatim al-Khairiyah, Sungai Pinang, Klang.

1) Melalui KTM ataupun bas ke Klang.
2) Naik bas yang menuju ke Kapar.

3) Turun dari bas apabila sudah sampai di sebuah masjid. (ada 1 je masjid yang akan dilalui sepanjang perjalanan bas)
4) Rumah Anak Yatim dan Miskin al-Khairiyah terletak di sebelah, bahagian dalam masjid tersebut, yakni Masjid al-Mukminun .

Kalau ada yang nak pergi sendiri atau masih was-was dengan instruction ni, boleh contact aku, k.

We are going to have a gotong-royong with the orphans of Rumah Anak Yatim dan Miskin al-Khairiyah this Sunday (17/2/08).

Antara aktiviti yang akan dijalankan:-
(Peserta=Kanak-kanak al-Khairiyah)
(Sukarelawan=Pelajar Batch 06/07 MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba)
10pg: -Perjumpaaan ringkas antara sukarelawan bersama peserta.
-Peserta akan diberi tugasan: Membuat, menghias, dan mencurahkan kreatifiti untuk mempersembahkan kata-kata hikmah dalam cara yang menarik.
-Sambil itu, para sukarelawan akan diberikan tugas dan taklimat ringkas.
*Alatan: Gunting, Gam, Kertas Warna, Double sided tape, Majalah/Komik-komik lama.

10.30 pg: -Gotong royong dimulakan. Peserta dibahagikan mengikut kumpulan yang akan diketuai oleh seorang sukarelawan dengan dibantu oleh 'Chief' (wakil peserta setiap kumpulan).
Kumpulan: 1)Asrama Lelaki, 2)Asrama Perempuan, 3)Bilik Rehat, Tempat permainan dan Dobi, 4)Surau dan Dewan, 5) Tugas-tugas Khas.
*Alatan: Penyapu, Mop, Baldi, Sabun, Berus, Surat Khabar lama, Kain buruk.

11.30pg: -Dijangkakan gotong-royong tamat. Sukarelawan dan peserta berkumpul semula di dewan.
#-Pengumuman pemenang yakni penghasil kata-kata hikmah dengan gaya yang paling menarik.

# = Dijalankan sekiranya mendapat penyumbang bagi aktiviti ini.

i was informed that the orphanage doesn't need clothes because there's a lot of clothes that they're not even wearing. so, i think we should stop collecting clothes from now on..

LAPORAN TINJAUAN KE RUMAH ANAK YATIM
DAN MISKIN AL-KHAIRIYAH

Pada 3 haribulan Februari 2008, sekumpulan ahli Komuniti Bekas Pelajar MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba telah menbuat survey ke sebuah rumah anak yatim di Klang bagi mengetahui alatan mahupun keperluan yang boleh disumbangkan oleh pertubuhan kepada mereka. Ahli-ahli yang terlibat dalam misi peninjauan ini adalah Muhd. Zafree, Mohammad, Dhiyauddin Athir, Siti Nurliyana dan Athirah.

Rumah itu telah pun dibuka sejak tahun 1947 lagi. Menurut Yang di-Pertua rumah tersebut, Haji Tolos; rumah itu kini menjadi kediaman buat 47 orang anak-anak yatim dan miskin yang terdiri daripada mereka di dalam lingkungan umur 7 hingga 17 tahun. Mereka yang tinggal di sana meliputi kanak-kanak lelaki dan juga perempuan. Rumah ini terletak bersebelahan dengan Masjid al-Mukminun, Sungai Pinang dan sememangnya dikenali masyarakat setempat.

Rata-ratanya infrasktruktur bangunan itu sudah uzur, selari dengan usianya yang mencecah 60 tahun. Sebahagian besar longkang tidak diselanggara dengan baik manakala bumbungnya sudah retak dan ada juga yang pecah. Hasil pemerhatian skuad, rumah kebajikan persendirian ini terdiri daripada bangunan pejabat yang turut disatukan dgn perpustakaan, perkhidmatan dobi, bilik rehat yang dilengkapi televisyen, gelanggang badminton, dua dorm asrama penghuni lelaki dan asrama penghuni perempuan pula terdiri daripada bilik-bilik. Tempat ini turut mempunyai taman permainan serta surau mereka sendiri.

Rutin harian kanak-kanak di sini terbahagi kepada dua, pada hari sekolah dan juga pada hari tidak sekolah (cuti).
HARI SEKOLAH: Solat Subuh- Sarapan- Sekolah pagi- Makan tengah hari- Solat Zohor- Sekolah Agama- Solat Asar- Mengaji- Solat Maghrib-Solat Isyak- Makan malam- Tidur.
HARI CUTI: Bebas jika tiada program. Mereka yang ingin keluar membeli keperluan akan mendapat RM 20 sebagai wang saku daripada penyelia mereka.

Melalui perbualan kami dengan kanak-kanak disana, akademik mereka tidaklah sebaik yang diharapkan. Bagi mereka, mendapat 2A bagi UPSR sudah cukup memuaskan. Sememangnya, mereka perlu diberi perhatian yang lebih di dalam hal ehwal akademik meraka. Masalah ini sememangnya bukan hanya dipengaruhi suasana pembelajaran mereka di sekolah. Buku-buku rujukan yang mereka gunakan sudah ketinggalan daripada silibus yang telah diperbaharui. Beg sekolah serta alat tulis mereka juga telah uzur dan ada sebahagiannya yang sudah pun rosak.

Kesimpulannya, mereka di Rumah Anak Yatim dan Miskin al-Khairiyah memerlukan bantuan dan perhatian yang sewajarnya dalam mempertingkat tahap kehidupan dan juga pencapaian akademik mereka. YDP mereka turut menyatakan bahawa rumah kebajikan tersebut sering menghadapi masalah kewangan. Ahli skuad peninjau berharap agar alatan sukan outdoor dan indoor dapat dihulurkan kepada mereka. Selain itu, bantuan bagi memantapkan kualiti sahsiah dan jati diri kanak-kanak tersebut juga amat diharapkan.
